Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its services with the introduction of AWS Backup in the Canada West (Calgary) Region. AWS Backup offers a fully managed, policy-based service that enables users to automate the protection of data across a variety of AWS services, including those related to compute, storage, and databases. This service facilitates the centralized creation and management of backups for application data, offering features designed to safeguard data against accidental or intentional mishaps through the use of immutable recovery points and vaults. Additionally, AWS Backup provides the capability to restore data following a loss incident.
Customers can begin utilizing AWS Backup via the AWS Backup console, as well as through SDKs or the command-line interface (CLI), by establishing a data protection policy and then associating AWS resources to this policy either through tags or Resource IDs. For further details on the functionalities provided in these regions, AWS encourages visiting the AWS Backup product page and its documentation. Information regarding the regional availability of AWS Backup can be found on the AWS Regional Services List.
